Definition of Leadership Education Leadership Education contains one or more of the following three elements: Classics: This is a very broad term for original sources that contribute to a student learning how to think. It includes classic books, classics in art, music, dance, outdoors, etc. Mentors: This means that the teaching fosters freedom rather than force. There is a relationship between the student and the teacher/mentor wherein the entity/mentor inspires the student to meet the natural requirements for leadership. Leadership Focus: this means that the activity the child is participating in has a leadership element—helping inspire the student to reach her potential and develop leadership skills and character, talents and abilities. Read-a-Thon funds may be used for any activity that contains at least one of these three elements.
